SPECIALIST EDUCATIONAL COURSES

Background

Between 2006 – 2008 Taste for Adventure (TFAC) ran a series of specialist courses aimed at re-engaging 14-19 year olds who had become disengaged with education.

Using specially tailored courses (full course programme available upon request) TFAC achieved some astonishing results, enabling over 100 individual participants to gain over 300 qualifications between them.

Every single participant who completed the course successfully achieved both educational and adventurous qualifications.

Now TFAC want to open this opportunity up to all students from year 9 upwards. To make this more achievable and accessible we have made a flexible set of modules that can be taken over 6 or 12 or 30 weeks.

What do the modules cost and how many students are on each?

Modules cost £50 per pupil per day. This cost includes all certification, registration, assessment and programme delivery.

To run a module we require a minimum of 10 students but we are open to mixing these students to make up groups from school clusters.

When do the modules run?

Generally we run modules over a period of 6 – 12 weeks. Sometimes we might run more intensive courses with 2 days a week over 3/6 weeks. Essentially TFAC are happy to work with schools to be as flexible as possible around the requirements of the pupils.

Are lunch and transport provided?

Lunch is not provided but can be for a cost of £2.50 per day.

Transport to all venues within the programmes from TFAC is included. Transport to and from TFAC in the morning or afternoon is not provided. We can arrange to provide a central pickup or drop off for a price of £3 per pupil per day.

Do any external organisations contribute to the modules?

We are happy to integrate careers talks from the Armed Forces and Stop Smoking talks from the NHS. Usually we can shuffle a programme around to free up an afternoon to enable this to happen.
